Murang’a County Governor H.E. Dr. Irungu Kang’ata officially launched the Inua Mkulima Card at Kigoro Dairy Co-operative Society in Gatanga Sub-County, marking a major milestone in strengthening farmer welfare and financial support systems.
The Inua Mkulima Card is a transformative initiative aimed at improving the social and economic well-being of dairy farmers by enabling them to access essential services in a structured and dignified manner.
Through the card, Kigoro Dairy farmers will benefit from support in the following key areas:
Secondary School Fees – helping farming families keep their children in school without financial strain.
Agrovet and Farm Inputs – enabling timely access to quality farm inputs such as feeds, seeds, fertilizers, and veterinary services to boost productivity.
Hospital and Medical Fees – offering a safety net for farmers and their families during health emergencies.
Food Stuffs and Basic Needs – supporting household food security and essential daily needs.
While officiating the launch, Governor Kang’ata reaffirmed the Murang’a County Government’s commitment to empowering farmers through innovative, farmer-centered programs that go beyond production to address real household challenges.
Kigoro Dairy leadership noted that the Inua Mkulima Card aligns with the cooperative’s vision of building a self-reliant, farmer-owned institution that supports members both now and in the future.
The launch of the Inua Mkulima Card reflects strong collaboration between the County Government and farmer cooperatives in transforming agriculture and improving rural livelihoods across Murang’a County.
